The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
All praise is to Allah Who sent down the Book upon His bondman, and has not kept any deviation in it. 1 (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, 2 Wherein they shall remain for ever: 3 And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' 4 No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. 5 Yet perchance, if they do not believe in this tiding, you will consume yourself with grief and follow after them. 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! 8 Did you know that the People of the Cave and People close to the Woods, were Our exceptional signs? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. 12
