۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
