The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
