The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 “And leave the wives your Lord has created for you? In fact you are people who exceed the limits.” 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
