Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said, “My Lord! I invited my people night and day.” 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
