Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 And then there cometh unto them that which they had been promised. 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
