Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Clear Book, 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 indeed, to our Lord we are turning' 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
