The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
