Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 On which all affairs are sorted out and decided 4 by Our command. Verily, We were set to send a Messenger 5 A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower, 6 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them: if you would only have sure faith. 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Nay! They play in doubt. 9 Wait for the day (which will come before the Day of Judgment) when the sky will give out dense smoke 10 Covering the people; this is a painful torment. 11 [They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." 12 How should they have the Reminder, seeing a clear Messenger already came to them, 13 but then they turned away from him, saying: 'He is tutored, mad' 14 We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). 15 However, We shall truly take Our revenge on the day when the great seizure takes place. 16 ۞ And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger, 17 Saying: restore to me the bondmen of Allah, verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 18 And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. 19 I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you should attack me with stones. 20 And if you do not believe me, then leave me' 21 Then he cried out to his Lord, "These are sinful people." 22 So depart thou with My bondmen by night; verily ye shall be pursued. 23 “And leave the sea as it is, parted in several places; indeed that army will be drowned.” 24 How many of gardens and springs do they [Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people] left. 25 And the cornlands and the goodly sites 26 and good things in which they took delight. 27 Such was their end, and what had been theirs We gave to other people to inherit. 28 Then neither the sky shed tears over them nor the earth. They were granted no respite. 29
