I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the sinners. 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
