He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
