The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
