Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 The fool among us spoke against God outrage, 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 Some men used to seek refuge with the jinn in the past, but that only increased their insolence. 6 And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone: 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. 10 Some of us are righteous, while others are not; we follow divergent paths. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
