The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!" 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
