The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
