Seest thou one who turns back, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 Thamud, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
