Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
