Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak 1 And the Ten Nights, 2 by the even, and the odd, 3 and by the passing night, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 whose like has never been created in any other land. 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 And with Firaun, who used to crucify. 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 And multiplied iniquity therein? 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful. 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan, 17 And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! 18 And you devour inheritance all with greed, 19 and why do you have an excessive love of riches? 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 and (when you find yourself) in the presence of your Lord and the rows and rows of angels, your greed for riches will certainly be of no avail to you. 22 And the Hell on that Day shall be brought nigh. On that Day man shall remember, but how will remembrance avail him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 None can punish as He will punish on that day, 25 And none can bind as He will bind. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 And come into My Paradise! 30
