The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
