The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 40
