The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a great day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
