We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 Shall We make those who believe and do good deeds equal to those who spread turmoil in the earth? Or shall We equate the pious with the disobedient? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 And to Dawud (David) We gave Sulaiman (Solomon). How excellent (a) slave! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Us)! 30 When there were brought to him in the evening (horses) still when standing, swift when running-- 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 Bring them back to me; so he began to slash (their) legs and necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He said, 'My Lord, forgive me, and give me a kingdom such as may not befall anyone after me; surely Thou art the All-giver.' 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, Whithersoever he willed,- 36 as well as all the rebellious forces [that We made to work for him] - every kind of builder and diver 37 And many others bound in bond. 38 "Such are Our Bounties: whether thou bestow them (on others) or withhold them, no account will be asked." 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
