Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 143 So fear God and follow me. 144 I do not ask any recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 145 "Will you be left secure in that which you have here? 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. 149 So fear you God, and obey you me; 150 And do not obey the bidding of the extravagant, 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 Replied he: "This she-camel shall have a share of water, and you shall have a share of water, on the days appointed [therefor]; 155 Do not treat her unkindly or the punishment of a grievous day will fall on you." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
