Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
