The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
