The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
