The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and banana trees, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
