And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
