The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
