'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But they split in their affair between them into sects, each party rejoicing in what is with them. 53 (Muhammad), leave them alone in their dark ignorance for an appointed time. 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We are hastening to them of good things? Nay, they do not perceive. 56 Surely those who tremble in fear of their Lord 57 And those who in the signs of their Lord do believe. 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 who spend their property for the cause of God, and whose hearts are afraid of their return 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 In arrogance; talking nonsense about the Quran, and left him like one telling fables by night. 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 (Do they disbelieve because) you asked them for payment? The reward that you will receive from your Lord is the best. He is the best Provider. 72 And most surely you invite them to a right way. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 until, when We open against them a door of terrible chastisement, lo, they are sore confounded at it. 77
