Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Mankind! fear your Lord; verily the quake of the Hour shall be a thing mighty. 1 on the day when you behold it, every suckling woman shall neglect the child she has suckled, and every pregnant woman shall deposit her burden, and thou shalt see mankind drunk, yet they are not drunk, but God's chastisement is terrible. 2 Among mankind is he who disputeth concerning Allah without knowledge, and followeth each froward devil; 3 It has been decided that satan will mislead and submit anyone who establishes friendship with him to the torment of the burning fire. 4 O mankind! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then verily! We have created you (i.e. Adam) from dust, then from a Nutfah (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge i.e. offspring of Adam), then from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood) then from a little lump of flesh, some formed and some unformed (miscarriage), that We may make (it) clear to you (i.e. to show you Our Power and Ability to do what We will). And We cause whom We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed term, then We bring you out as infants, then (give you growth) that you may reach your age of full strength. And among you there is he who dies (young), and among you there is he who is brought back to the miserable old age, so that he knows nothing after having known. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells and puts forth every lovely kind (of growth). 5 That is because God -- He is the Truth, and brings the dead to life, and is powerful over everything, 6 and because the Hour is coming, no doubt of it, and God shall raise up whosoever is within the tombs. 7 And of mankind is he who disputeth respecting Allah without knowledge or guidance or a Book luminous. 8 (Disdainfully) bending his side, in order to lead (men) astray from the Path of Allah: for him there is disgrace in this life, and on the Day of Judgment We shall make him taste the Penalty of burning (Fire). 9 This is due to what your two hands have sent before, and because Allah is not in the least unjust to the servants. 10
