Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed,] 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
