The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
