Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
