NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning for people -- 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
