The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
