The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
