۞ And when the son of Mary is quoted as an example, behold! the folk laugh out, 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He is naught but a bondman: him We favoured, and him We made an ensample unto the Children of Israil. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 Let not Satan bar you; he is for you a manifest foe. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 Allah is my Lord and your Lord; therefore, serve Him. That is the Straight Way.” 64 But factions from among those [who came after Jesus] began to hold divergent views: woe, then, unto those who are bent on evildoing - [woe] for the suffering [that will befall them] on a grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
