He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and pious. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
