The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
