A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 Many a habitation have We laid low before: Our retribution came upon them in the night or in the midst of siesta at noon. 4 And when Our punishment came upon them, they had nothing to say for themselves, and could only cry, "Verily, we were wrongdoers!" 5 So undoubtedly We shall question those to whom Our Noble Messengers went, and indeed We shall question the Noble Messengers. 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing). So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). 8 As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
