The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and the sea swarming, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 No one can avert it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
