Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Glory be to God above that they describe, 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 will certainly be victorious 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
