Thamud denied the messengers 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 Within gardens and springs 147 And cornfields and palm-trees having fine spadices? 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 So fear God and obey me: 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They said, "You are only bewitched and insane. 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 The punishment therefore seized them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 158 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
