O People who Believe! Do not devour usury doubling and quadrupling it; and fear Allah, hoping that you achieve success. 130 And fear the Fire prepared for the unbelievers, 131 And obey Allah and the Messenger, that you may be shown mercy. And hasten to the for-giveness of your Lord and to a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the God-fearing who spend in the way of Allah both in plenty and hardship, who restrain their anger, and forgive others. Allah loves such good-doers." 132 ۞ And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous 133 Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good; 134 and who, when they have committed a shameful deed or have [otherwise] sinned against themselves, remember God and pray that their sins be forgiven - for who but God could forgive sins? - and do not knowingly persist in doing whatever [wrong] they may have done. 135 These it is who shall have as their reward forgiveness from their Sustainer, and gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide: and how excellent a reward for those who labour! 136 There have been many dispensations before you; so travel in the land and see what befell those who denied the truth. 137 This is a plain exposition for men, and a guidance and admonition for the Godfearing. 138 So do not become weak (against your enemy), nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) if you are indeed (true) believers. 139 If misfortune touches you, [know that] similar misfortune has touched [other] people as well; for it is by turns that We apportion unto men such days [of fortune and misfortune]: and [this] to the end that God might mark out those who have attained to faith, and choose from among you such as [with their lives] bear witness to the truth - since God does not love evildoers 140 And so that Allah may purify* the believers, and destroy the disbelievers. (* Forgive them their sins, if any.) 141 Do you suppose that you would enter the Garden, without God knowing those among you who would strive hard for His cause and endure with fortitude? 142 You were longing for death, before you met it. Now you have seen it with your own eyes. 143
