Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 but not a Prophet came to them, without they mocked at him; 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
