Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In high empyrean 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and had not known my account. 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food save filth 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
