The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
