The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
