The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
